Released by ReSound, Lively is a company that offers prescription hearing aids online, cutting out the need to visit a hearing instrument specialist.
Since Lively was founded in 2019, there was an overall change in attitude towards hearing loss, and many people, who wouldn’t have otherwise considered hearing aids, decided to invest.
This had a direct effect on us, with many patients often asking us where they should buy their hearing aids from.
Of course, while we have our personal views and beliefs, we understand that there are many factors that contribute to someone’s decision.
So, to ensure that our patients remain as informed as possible, we’re going to explain a little bit more about the key things you should look out for when choosing between Lively and Absolute Hearing.
Firstly, Who Is Lively?
Over the years, we’ve seen a real change in the hearing aid market, with more hearing aid amplification products becoming readily available.
Not long ago, Lively launched their online audiology platform, which offers hearing tests, hearing aids, and ongoing support.
As an FDA-approved hearing aid, they aimed to destigmatize hearing loss and encourage more people to seek treatment.
Their Hearing Test Isn’t Accurate
Firstly, the hearing tests that Lively offers are nowhere near as accurate as the ones performed in the clinic.
It isn’t performed by a hearing instrument specialist in real-time, and you are expected to administer the test yourself.
Naturally, most people who purchase Lively hearing aids will have no experience in audiology nor know how to accurately test the pure tones and frequencies that your hearing can pick up.
Inevitably, there’s going to be a lot of room for error and mistakes. When it comes down to assessing your hearing health, this is not something you should be taking shortcuts on.
Choice Of Hearing Aids
With the Lively Bundle, you have a choice of rechargeable or battery-powered hearing aids.
The rechargeable devices offer 30 hours of sound per charge and are priced at $2,000. Alternatively, they offer flexible payment options, where you can pay as little as $65 per month.
The battery-powered hearing aids are priced at $1,450 and include a one-year supply of batteries, which would usually set you back around $50-$60.
While we are impressed with the hearing aids that Lively offers to first-time wearers, we are a little skeptical of the limited options available.
Compared to Absolute Hearing, where we have a wide range of technology and models, you have the choice of multiple different devices, and our specialists can talk you through each model.
Remote Audiology Care
Lively boasts its remote technology, which allows you to have one-on-one chats with a doctor and make adjustments to your hearing aids.
While this is great for those who cannot travel into a clinic, there is no opportunity to be seen by a board certified, state licenced hearing instrument specialist in person. In these particular cases, sometimes it’s beneficial to speak to a professional in person about confidential matters.
Similarly, we offer free home office visits, where we travel to you. This is a great option for many patients who find that they are unable to travel or perhaps struggle with mobility.
We also have the option of in-office visits, where you can chat to us in person.
Locally Owned And Operated
There’s nothing better than developing a relationship with a hearing instrument specialist you trust, especially one that is from the same region as you.
As Idaho and Washington’s most renowned hearing healthcare clinic, we have established a name for ourselves in the community.
While Lively is now a well-known corporation, it will never compare to a locally owned and operated clinic.
We like to ensure that you are protected no matter what, guaranteeing you can always achieve your hearing healthcare.
Whether you accidentally dropped your hearing aid or lost it on vacation, our packages cover repair warranty and loss and damage. This means that you can come into the clinic for any repairs needed for your device.
Lively also covers you for up to 3 years in the event of damage/loss.
